My name is Jake Sorich and I am the editor/publisher/content creator of this site.
That’s me below standing with Chris Botti, trumpeter extraordinaire. I’m on the right, obviously.
(Go ahead, I’ll wait while you do a Google Image Search of Chris Botti now :-p)
I am the left-handed former Hot Ticket reporter at the Great Falls Tribune. For the last almost seven years I covered the arts and entertainment scene in Great Falls and Northcentral Montana.
Now, I’ve made the jump and am taking my talents online.
Why, you might ask?
The other day, I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with a musician. Who it is doesn’t matter as much as what we talked about and that moment we shared together on the telephone. It was not the first time I’ve experienced a moment like that, and it surely will not be the last.
Those moments, in fact, are the reason I’ve created this site. And now I have the unique opportunity to share, in depth, that little piece of bliss, framed around art — be it music, theater, dance, books, visual arts of all kinds — to a core group of fellow art aficionados. If I can do that on a bigger scale than I’ve ever had before, then I have done my job.
If you’re looking for news on upcoming shows, you’ll find some of that here. If you’re looking for reviews, you’ll find some of those here. If you’re looking for interviews with creative folks doing awesome things in Montana, you’ll find some of that here too.
I may also throw in an occasional poem, viral video, national news item, or otherwise interesting something I feel you, my loyal readers, hint, hint, will want to see.
With this being online only, it allows me to take risks, and try a few things that I never before have been able to attempt. The possibilities aren’t quite limitless, but they’re pretty darn close.
Thanks again for stopping in and please, feel free to leave me some feedback about what you like or don’t like about the site as it starts to grow and change.
With that, expect the look to be ever-evolving until I reach a point where I feel it’s something that best captures the mood of the site.
So, basically, don’t get too attached to the look and design just yet because it’s likely going to change, especially at first.
But, fret not, because once I find something that works, I won’t likely change much unless absolutely necessary.
With that, again, welcome to Big Sky State Buzz.
I’m excited to make this place a fun, trusted entertainment-news source, and I hope you enjoy it as well. So bookmark me already, and keep checking back for more updates in the near future!!!
