Artists to watch at Red Ants Pants Festival — Red Molly and The Black Lillies
The Red Ants Pants Music Festival features a fine lineup of well known and not-so well known acts performing their best summer tunes this weekend just outside of White Sulphur Springs.
Two acts to check out if you get the chance to go are Red Molly and The Black Lillies. I will have full profile interviews about them later this week, but I thought I’d offer some of their music here to help whet your appetite.
First up is Red Molly.
This energetic female Americana trio performs a mix of up tempo originals and classic covers. Their latest album marking the band’s 10-year anniversary came out earlier this year titled “The Red Album.”
Here they are performing at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival last year.
Not only are they wonderfully gifted musicians, they’re quite the lookers too. (Not that it matters so much, but it is a bonus.)
And then there’s The Black Lillies. This Knoxville-based Americana band was recently named to Rolling Stone Magazine’s “10 Artists You Need to Know for 2014 list” and have been receiving a lot of attention across the country on the road and on radio stations worldwide. I’ll be speaking with the lead singer Cruz Contreras later this week. In the meantime, check out their video for the song “Smokestack Lady.”
Keep checking back for more on the Red Ants Pants Festival!
