Office of Tourism giving out $40,000 in ‘Real Montana’ film-making contest

video camera 1The Montana Office of Tourism is holding a contest for film makers involving one-minute videos about, “the experience of living and playing in Montana.”

Videos must be submitted by April 6, with open voting held from April 7-21. The top three videos with the most votes in each category will win cash prizes totalling $5,000, with the top winner getting $2,500 in each category. The top two videos from each category will then compete for the grand prize of $10,000 between April 22-29.

The categories are, followed by a brief description provided by the Office of Tourism:

Food and Beverage — Know where to get the best doughnut or bison burger in the state? Is there a brewery that you love? How about a favorite chef or food cart?

Montana Places — Do you have a favorite hiking trail or fishing hole? Showcase your favorite spaces and places.

Outdoor Adventures –– Montana is overflowing with adventure opportunities. What crazy uniquely Montana outdoor adventure do you love?

Artists, culture and events — Show the world your favorite playhouse, rodeo, painter, farmer’s market or any other of the arts and events that make Montana special

And

Wildlife and scenery — Montana is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, show it off.

Following the competition, the videos may screen on the Montana Office of Tourism website and in other promotional materials. All additional content (music, graphics) must be royalty free music or you must have the rights to its use.

Any part of the video or the video as a whole may be used by the Montana Office of Tourism on their website and in other promotional materials.
