Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs perform Friday at the Back Alley Pub
Show kicks off after Christmas Stroll at 8 p.m.
The Back Alley Pub will be the place to be after the Great Falls Christmas Stroll on Friday as it welcomes the talented folk-rock group Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs from Bozeman. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs have more than three decades of experience playing blues, rock, country, metal, folk and indie music among each of the band members. They’ve shared the stage with such acts as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Leftover Salmon, Corb Lund, Mark Chesnutt, The Infamous Stringdusters, Keb Mo’, Amy Helm, The Mavericks and many others.
Over the years they’ve performed at such festivals as the Montana Folk Festival, the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, the Sweat Pea Festival in Bozeman, the Magic City Blues Festival, and the River City Roots Festival, among others.
Two of the band’s members — banjoist/slide guitar/vocalist Matt Demarais and bassist Ethan Demarais hail from The Electric City. A five-member group, joining the Demarais’s are Lena (Laney) Schiffer on vocals/percussion/guitar, Brian Kassay on fiddle/mandolin/harmonica and Josh Moore on vocals and guitar.
The band released a live self-titled studio album in 2016 while their followup album, “The Vigilante Session” was recorded live at a forest service cabin in the Ruby Mountains.
