Electric City Roller Grrrlz 1The Great Falls derby matrons and mademoiselles welcome all the local ghouls, ghosts, zombies, monsters, superheroes, villains, look-alikes and other costumed fans to Four Seasons Arena on Saturday. The team takes  on the talented Gallatin Roller Girlz.

The “Living Dead Grrrlz” bout starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Both derby teams will be dressed in costumes and during halftime, fans can participate in a costume contest of their own.

Amanda “Brick House” Brooks, spokeswoman for the Great Falls team, said there will be several different age groups with prizes awarded to the winners, as judged by the derby girls.

She said the girls will be dressed up in various costumes, as well, and that she’s always surprised by what they come up with.

As for the match itself, Brooks said they’re expecting a tough match, as the Gallatin squad defeated them “by over 100 points,” last month.

She said she’s confident that they’ll be more prepared this time out, however.

“We have come back in the last month and have just practiced really hard,” she said. “I think we are going to do very well.”

Additionally, Brooks said this match is a fundraiser for the local Toys for Tots program. She said the more people who attend the bout, the more toys they’re able to give local children in need.

“We love Toys for Tots and it’s one of our favorite fundraisers to do because after we raise all the money, we pick a day and we go to Big Lots, who gives us a 20 percent discount when shopping for Toys For Tots and we set the girls loose so they can go shopping for kids. That’s why we try to promote this one so hard, we want to help the program out as much as we can.”

As for the rest of the season, Brooks said several of the girls are headed back up to Canada in November for an invitational match, and that the team has one more home meet in December when they take on the team from the Flathead Roller Derby organization.

Advance tickets can be purchased from any roller girl, at Barrel of Bucks, the Laquinta Inn or online at brownpapertickets.com. For more updates on the Electric City Roller Grrrlz, visit their Facebook page.
