The Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art throws a shindig at First Friday Art Walk with several artists participating in it’s upcoming art auction next Saturday.

The First Friday reception runs from 5 to 7 and light refreshments will be served.

The art auction itself gets underway next Saturday at the Square from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Half of the money raised from the live auction goes to the artists, with the other half going to the Square.

In a recent interview with Tracy Houck, executive director of Paris Gibson Square, we talked about some of the changes to this year’s auction, how they’ve made it a goal to keep all of the art affordable for buyers, and how they’ve shifted gears from finding art that makes for a great exhibit piece, but might not be pieces that people would want to purchase themselves.

Below is an audio clip of our conversation, and a photo gallery showing several of the pieces featured in this year’s exhibition.

Tickets to the auction are $65 per person and can be purchased by calling the Square at 727-8255.

Here’s the photo gallery featuring several pieces that will be up for bid on April 11.
