Elton John BillingsThe Rocket Man returns to the Rimrock Auto Arena at the MetraPark, it was announced this morning.

Sir Elton John plays in Billings on Oct. 7. Tickets go on sale on May 30 at tickets.com and the MetraPark box office.

John was in Billings last in April 2011, where he performed a 120-minute set. It also was the first show performed in the venue after a twister tore the roof off the arena a year earlier.

This trip to the Magic City also may be his last.

He’s calling this his “Final Curtain” tour and plans on playing fewer shows and only larger arenas.

“I want to spend more time with my family and less time touring,” John said in a press release. “I am all too aware of how precious the time ahead is. My sons are growing up so quickly, their early years are just flying by, and I want to be there with them. So this final Billings concert will give me one last chance to say farewell.”

Sir Elton is just one of the big entertainers set to play in the MetraPark this year. The Eagles play June 2; Trace Adkins performs on June 25, Motley Crue plays on July 26; Lynyrd Skynyrd with Blue Oyster Cult and Martina McBride play during the MontanaFair in August; and Miranda Lambert performs on Sept. 25.
