Electric City Creative hosting poetry slam this weekend at Back Alley Pub

Pinterest Google+

Electric City Creative and the Back Alley Pub invite you to make Saturday evening a night dedicated to poetry much in the same spirit of the Celebrate the Book event, which you can read all about here.

The poetry slam at the Back Alley Pub gets started at 7:30 and is $2 to participate, withe the winner taking the pot. People who wish to perform their poetry must be prepared with two poems, no longer than 5 minutes each, much in the same way the old Step 2 the Mic poetry slams were set up.

It’s free to watch, although everyone is encouraged to participate. The event will be hosted by Sara Habein. Participants must be 18-years-old to attend. Electric City Creative says they plan on hosting the next event in a venue that allows for high schoolers to attend.

Any kind of poetry is welcome, not just prototypical “slam” poems, although those are welcomed, also.

For more information on the event, check out the Electric City Creative Facebook page.
